Trying to conceive can often come with high levels of stress and anxiety, I work to support women and couples who are on that journey.
Reflexology is proven to reduce stress and ease tension, this coupled with specific and prescriptive treatment protocols aim to support both male and female fertility functions.
As a member of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists I have embarked upon extensive training to enable me to support women/couples on their fertility journeys. Reproductive Reflexology when used as a stand-alone treatment can enhance your natural fertility, it can also be used in conjunction with all forms of assisted conception methods (IUI,ICSI and IVF).
Some of the Reflexology benefits that can support conception are shown below:
- Relieving stress and tension
- Detoxifying through increased circulation
- Helps the body restore a natural balance
- Aims to regulate menstrual cycles
- Aims to improve sperm production and functionality
I offer both reflexology and massage during pregnancy – even both together! The benefits to mum and baby during this special time are not to be undervalued. They include
For mum
- Reflexology and Massage improve circulation and therefore oxygenation to the soft tissues of the body. This enables fresh nutrients and fluids to all vital organs within the body including the placenta, which helps support healthy development of the baby
- Increases feel good hormones (serotonin and Dopamine) which can improve mood and provide a greater sense of wellbeing
- Helps to support a sluggish digestive system which can reduce the likelihood of haemorrhoids and constipation.
- Helps to decrease stress hormones like cortisol and alleviate anxiety
- Can help mum feel more connected with her body and encourages relaxation practices that can support her in labour.
For Baby
- Any feel-good hormones produced by mum will carry over to baby – Happy mum, Happy baby!
- Baby will benefit from the improved supply of oxygenated blood
- Positive touch (massage) can help establish patterns of intimacy and connection between mum and baby
I have also trained in Rebozo technique to help support breech babies. A Rebozo is a long length of woven fabric used in bodywork techniques to cradle the body which helps muscles and fascia to release potentially creating space to allow the baby to move into the correct position, the technique is known as Rebozo rocking or sifting.
Post Natal Massage can help mums to reconnect with their bodies and recover after labour and birth by supporting the healing processes. It can help with strain and pains encountered in labour and early motherhood along with supporting hormone balancing if incorporated with reflexology. I can work with C Section scars and adhesions.
